Terms of Service
Plain-language summary: Unknown Verdict is a retrieval tool. It returns verbatim text from public legal documents. It does not give legal advice. Do not rely on it as a substitute for a licensed lawyer. We accept no liability for decisions made on the basis of the text it returns.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Unknown Verdict (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Nature of the Service
The Service provides retrieval of verbatim text from an indexed corpus of publicly available legal documents. It does not:
- Provide legal advice, opinions, or recommendations
- Create an advocate-client relationship
- Guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the source documents
- Generate, summarise, or paraphrase legal text
3. Not legal advice
The Service is an information tool. Nothing it returns constitutes legal advice or a legal opinion. You should not act or refrain from acting on the basis of anything retrieved from the Service without seeking advice from a qualified legal professional in the relevant jurisdiction.
4. Accuracy and currency
The indexed corpus is drawn from official sources at the time of indexing. However, statutes are amended, rules are updated, and notifications are issued regularly. The Service does not automatically track such changes. You are responsible for verifying that the text you retrieve reflects the law in force at the time of your query.
The Service makes no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the retrieved text.
5. Verbatim output
The Service is designed to return verbatim text without modification. If a technical fault, index corruption, or misconfiguration causes an incorrect response, that fault does not create any liability on the part of the operator.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to bypass rate limits or authentication controls
- Submit queries containing confidential personal data of third parties without lawful basis
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or threaten any person
- Represent the Service's output as legal advice given by a qualified advocate
7. Intellectual property
The source documents indexed by the Service are public legal texts and are not subject to copyright (or are subject to government-publication copyright held by the respective authorities). The Service's interface, code, and index structure are the property of The Advocacy — A Law Firm.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of the Service shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of profits, loss of business, legal costs, or professional reputational harm.
Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Service is to stop using it.
9. Availability
The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.
10. Modification of terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising under them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Delhi.
